Candle Safety
Your safe and stable candle experience is incredibly important to us and gett the best longevity from your purchase.
Below are essential tips to get the most out of your candle.
- Store candle upright and out of direct sunlight.
- Never leave a burning candle unattended, or within reach of children.
- NEVER fall asleep with a candle burning.
- Always burn candle away from drafts, air conditioners or open windows.
- Never move a burning or still liquid candle. Wait until flame is extinguished, glass is cool and wax has solidified.
- Glass and wax will become hot so please handle with care. Always take precautions to protect your furniture and burn on heat safe surfaces.
- Where possible burn candle for a minimum of 1 hour each time to allow an even wax burn, however more than 3+ hours will make the glass too hot and may result in cracking. For smaller votive candles, allow the wax to burn evenly to the edge, but do not burn for more than 1-1.5 hours as glass is much thinner, and will get very hot much quicker than an average jar.
- Keep wick trimmed to approximately 0.5 – 1cm and keep an eye on the direction of the wicks. Keep wick upright, and not pointing into the wax or towards the direction of the glass.
- The longevity of your candle is dependant on location – a candle in a breeze will have more oxygen, thus the flame will burn a lot quicker than one located in the middle of a room.
- Wax will very likely change colour. This is totally normal and can be the fragrance deepening in colour as it is exposed to light and oxygen.
- Wax texture may change or wet looking spots may appear where the wax has adhered to the side of the glass. Again this is normal and is caused by contraction and expansion of the wax as the temperature changes and naturally alters in the space.
- If the glass blackens (usually the result of not trimming the wick or burning for too long) wipe gently with a damp cloth once jar is cool.
- Soy wax is a natural product with no dyes or chemicals so your candle may differ in appearance each time. But it is ALWAYS fabulous.
